A settings window opens: from the Home page tab, customize your site by giving it a name. Heredis proposes that of your genealogical file. But if it has a functional name, you will have to find a more evocative name for visitors to your site. Take for example the name of a family from your tree.
Add an illustration to make your homepage more attractive. You can view the main image associated with your root person, or choose a photo on your hard disk: the home village of your ancestors, a coat of arms. Browse your disc to select it.
Fill in the area of the welcome text: people who visit your site must have an idea of what they will find there. You can describe your research, the most important places in your tree.
Then switch tabs and go to Privacy. Choose the data you want to broadcast.
First, define contemporaries by considering for example that they are all people whose date of birth is less than 100 years instead of 120 years. You can manage their display on Heredis Online by displaying all of their information or by hiding it.
You can uncheck the options that Heredis Online offers by default, such as Show all notes, all sources.
You then have the option to protect your site with a password. Only visitors who know this password will be able to consult your family tree online. Other visitors should contact you by email to obtain the password.
When you find all the settings in your publication satisfactory, click OK.
Heredis Online displays a list of your published family trees. You see progress of the transfer of your family tree to your personal site.
As soon as the publication is complete, click the Visit website link to launch your Internet browser and visit your site (see an example site).
There you go ! Your site is online. You can share it with your loved ones by clicking on Facebook share buttons (if you want to share your site on Facebook) or Email if you want to send the URL of your site to your contacts by email. |
