This year Heredis' Team participated in the biggest genealogical convention worldwide: RootsTech, in the craddle of modern genealogy Salt Lake City, USA.
For the first time, we were exhibitors in order to promote our English version of Heredis 2018.
Mikael, Hubert and Hélène lived this adventure of 5 days among the international public. If Heredis has its fans in Europe, it's the same overseas.
Accompanied by Henry, Susan, Russel, Angie, Sheila and John, american users of Heredis, they met genealogy lovers and professional genealogists, but also bloggers and TV presenters such as CeCe Moore from DNA Detectives, Kenyatta Berry from Genealogy Roadshow, Tierra Kellow from Pressing My Way, and Pierre Le Clercq, speaker and member of the statutes committee of the French Federation of Genealogy etc.
All Heredis' Team thanks them for their help and good times spent. We also want to thank all our users from the very beginning.
Every year, RootsTech has a theme. This year was under the theme "Be Connected", between genealogists or families, thanks to social network and applications such as the one FamilySearch developed, allowing you to see if cousins are nearby.
Chinese genealogists were noticed with their special way of naming family members.
This year, just like last year, DNA researches were omnipresent. Indeed, many exhibitors and conferences were about genealogy through DNA researches.
Hubert and Hélène of Heredis decided to do it while they were in the US since it is forbidden in France. They, now, have to wait 6 to 8 weeks to get the results. DNA tests are easy to do by yourself, a bit of a saliva or a cotton swab rubbed inside your cheek and voila!
RootsTech was an outstanding experience. Many conferences on every possible subject from DNA testing to how to get your researches done all over the world.
Some numbers about RootsTech 2018:
- 4 days
- more than 200 conferences
- 205 exhibitors
- more than 25000 visitors
- 6 miles or so of walking per day
RootsTech allowed us to meet people from so many different places: americans, australians, norwegians, germans, hispanics, chineses, etc.
The RootsTech adventure is now over for 2018, it is time to think of the future and maybe of RootsTech 2019.
