With Heredis, your data entry is finally complete! Anyone who has played a role in the lives of your ancestors may be associated with their record: witness to a marriage, declarant of a birth, cousin present at a decoration ceremony, etc.
You can create witnesses for each event. If a witness is already in your file, you may associate him or her by simple drag and drop on the event from a panel (Links, Kinship, Bookmarks or list of Persons). This is a real advantage, for genealogists know well that witnesses are very often family members (grandparents, uncles and aunts or their spouses).
You then have only to specify the role of the witness (Declarant, Godfather, Notary, Officiating Priest...). Enter the age of the witness; if there is no date of birth, Heredis will complete the record. Add other useful information about the witness in the Comments field.
All this information is visible in the Witnesses tab for each event.
To remove a witness, nothing more simple: click the "-" button (Unlink the selected witness from the event). To change information concerning the witnesss, click the pencil icon (Edit and modify the link).
You will find all the people who played a role in the life of the Primary Person in the Links or Kinship panels (in the Relations panel of the Mac version) and the Summary panel: a valuable tool to clearly define who the person is!
